Reke-îg̈i Bî (/ˈreke/ /ˈɪg̃i/ [next] [sea; ocean]) is a subtropical Large Town located in the Lîsithapíe Zone of the Union of Engineers.

The name Reke-îg̈i Bî is derived from the Iron Elvish language, as Reke-îg̈i Bî was founded by Shêbë Trëg̈garga, who was culturaly Iron Elven.

Climate

Reke-îg̈i Bî has a yearly average temperature of 29°C (84°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a hot 33°C (91°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a warm 26°C (78°F). Reke-îg̈i Bî receives an average of 149 cm/y (58 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the spring. Reke-îg̈i Bî covers an area of nearly 6 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 3250 m (10662 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Reke-îg̈i Bî was founded durring the late 13th century in winter of the year 1253, by Shêbë Trëg̈garga. The establishment of Reke-îg̈i Bî was somewhat plagued by a lack of willing colonists, leading to Shêbë Trëg̈garga electing to pay people to resettle in Reke-îg̈i Bî.

Reke-îg̈i Bî was built using the conventions of Iron Elven durring the late 13th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Reke-îg̈i Bî is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature timber framed wooden shiethed or brick construction, which gives form to a very formalized, rational, expence effishent arcatectural style based on strictly symmetrical designs which universaly feature pitched roofs, shutters, and the occasional column or pilaster for a decorative touch.

Reke-îg̈i Bî is was constructed arround several narrow cobblestone mainstreets which cross one another at certain axies, with smaller streets branching off of them to premit acess to the many buildings deeper into the road network. The overall fashion is remenessent of a circulatory system, or other organic construct, and is quite effishent in its design. The town rests behind a thick wall made from clay bricks. The wall has all of the proper fortifications and is well made. Unfortuantly the nature of clay brick leaves it quite vulnerable to siege equipment, though the thickness of the wall lends it simmilar resistnace to a thinner hardrock wall. Reke-îg̈i Bî's millitarily questionable fortifications are in an unremarkable state. To some, this is the ideal sate for defences to be in. In need of absoutly nothing, and ready to serve the town as needed.

A quick look in any direction shows Reke-îg̈i Bî is filled with vices. There are many taverns, brothels are advertising their services on the streets, cardsharks are plying their illicit trade within public squairs, and every shop has at least three signs advertising various sales on goods. That alone wouldn’t be too noticeable, if it wasn’t just so omnipresent and overwhelmingly how the people of this town live. Or if the general public wasn’t so enthusiastically, openly, and merrily participating in these activities.

Civic Infrastructure

Reke-îg̈i Bî has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Reke-îg̈i Bî. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Reke-îg̈i Bî's parks.

Reke-îg̈i Bî has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Reke-îg̈i Bî.

Reke-îg̈i Bî has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Reke-îg̈i Bî has a Guild of Nurses, which is tasked with caring for the elderly and infirm in accordance with local ordinances, religious values, and customs.

Reke-îg̈i Bî has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Reke-îg̈i Bî has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Reke-îg̈i Bî's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Reke-îg̈i Bî has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Reke-îg̈i Bî's natural decorations nor waterways.

Reke-îg̈i Bî has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Reke-îg̈i Bî has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Reke-îg̈i Bî is home to a University which provides higher education in a variety of fields, and also serves as a research institute for those same fields.

Cultural Notes

Reke-îg̈i Bî's mayor's house was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by vertical proportions, pointed arches, external buttressing, and asymmetry in the general shape of its buildings. The decorative features of the style were key, consisting of large arched windows, pointed arches, vaulted ceilings, flying buttresses, and sculptures integrated into the structure itself. Occasionally, for very important buildings, an array of sculptures or one colossal sculpture might replace the entirety of the entrance to said building.

Due to the actions of local Kami, spring is recurring in Reke-îg̈i Bî.

The Mercane near Reke-îg̈i Bî are known to be more aggressive than normal.

Reke-îg̈i Bî's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in summer and involves embarking on a group pilgrimage to channel Augury energies of tier 3 via singing.
